Mesut Özdemir was born in Sivas in 1991, where he completed his primary and secondary education. In 2009, he achieved a high rank in the national university entrance exam in Turkiye and was awarded a scholarship to study International Relations at TOBB University of Economics and Technology. During his education, Özdemir earned the right to participate in a double major program and successfully completed his studies at the Faculty of Law. He also received the International Law Module Certificate by completing eight different specialized courses in international law.
Mesut Özdemir continued his graduate studies in the Eurasian Studies program at the Middle East Technical University (METU), where he deepened his knowledge and expertise with a thesis on the impact of energy resources on international politics. He has also pursued postgraduate education in the field of Law of Obligations at the Banking and Commercial Law Research Institute of Ankara University.
Throughout his academic life, Özdemir maintained a professional career, serving as a researcher at the Economic Policy Research Foundation of Turkiye (TEPAV). Since 2016, he has worked as a political consultant and, at the end of 2017, founded Protokol Law & Consultancy, marking a new direction in his professional legal career.
As the founder of Protokol Law & Consultancy, he provides services in various fields, including corporate law, enforcement and bankruptcy law, debt recovery law, contract law, banking and finance law, energy and mining law, labor and social security law, and real estate and expropriation law. He has successfully implemented numerous alternative dispute resolution methods and has gained extensive experience in representing clients and managing contract processes.
In addition to his academic and professional endeavors, Mesut Özdemir has been actively involved in social and political activities. During his university years, he served as the student council president and led numerous community initiatives. After moving to Ankara in 2009, he began his political career, conducting activities across various cities and districts in Turkiye, as well as establishing numerous political contacts internationally. Özdemir has developed and contributed to significant national and international projects, putting forward ideas on important issues concerning both Turkiye and the global agenda.
He is fluent in English and has intermediate proficiency in German and French.
